Using underwater robots, helicopters and other state-of-the-art technology, the Endurance22 expedition aims to be the first to locate and survey Sir Ernest Shackleton’s lost ship which sank in the Weddell Sea in Antarctica in 1915.
Bridgwater tidal barrier
The Environment Agency’s proposals for a new £100million tidal barrier in Somerset have recently been approved by Environment Secretary George Eunice. This represents a hugely significant milestone for the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier scheme, which will deliver long term sustainable flood protection to more than 13,000 homes and businesses in Bridgwater and the surrounding area.
The place with the greatest potential for offshore wind for the UK is the North Sea, and the Crown Estate has been leasing areas of seabed for this purpose in several rounds over the years, the most recent being in February 2021. At the same time, offshore wind turbines are getting larger and larger - turbines are now routinely taller than the Gherkin in London.
