County Broadband
BDB Pitmans are proud to support County Broadband as it embarks on a long-term commitment to extend its full-fibre rollout to 500,000 premises across rural communities in the East of England by 2027, digitally ‘future-proofing’ the region in the process.
Founded in 2003, Essex-based alternative network provider, County Broadband, specialises in supporting rural communities to upgrade existing, inadequate broadband infrastructure, to gigabit-capable, full-fibre broadband connectivity – crucial for keeping up with the growing demands for fast, reliable internet, made by families and businesses alike.
County Broadband already delivers fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) broadband to over 150 villages across Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire, but this latest injection of £100 million pounds’ worth of private investment is set to accelerate its expansion strategy by allowing them to service thousands of homes in across the hardest-to-reach rural areas in the East of England.
The funding has also enabled County Broadband to unveil plans to invest in the local communities it serves, including contracts with local build contractors, onboarding regional suppliers and doubling its existing workforce to over 250 by making an investment in local skilled tradesmen and apprentices.
How we help?
BDB Pitmans first acted for County Broadband in 2018, in connection with a transformational investment from Aviva Investors provided through their infrastructure equity platform. As a long-standing client of the firm, we were pleased to help County Broadband secure its second tranche of investment funding. The company has an impressive 18-year heritage as a community-driven provider and this most recent project is set to positively transform the lives of half a million homes and businesses in the next five years.
By providing legal support to this forward-looking organisation, BDB Pitmans plays a small role in giving back to local communities, particularly those in East Anglia.
