tCI Connect 2019
Facing challenges, sharing solutions
BDB Pitmans are delighted to be sponsoring and speaking at tCI Connect 2019, a one day event designed to provide an update on the latest in public consultation.
Matthew Smith, partner and Laura Thornton, legal director, in BDB Pitmans’ public law team, will be leading a session in ‘The Challenge Room’. They will discuss:
- First (Gunning/Sedley) Principles;
- The critical, practical issues which arise when consulting;
- Some of the elephant traps which have claimed earlier best-laid plans;
- When to engage, when to consult, and where the difference lies;
- What to include in a consultation, and what not;
- How long to consult for; and
- What to do with the responses received.
Consultation is fascinating because it happens where legal, political and communitarian interests collide; and Laura and Matthew will also share some of their experiences in navigating this most tricky of landscapes.
