What we do:
Ideally our International Team will have helped with pre-death succession planning to ensure your objectives are met. But we are often brought in to advise on estates where there has been no advance planning, or when family circumstances or the location of assets have changed to introduce unforeseen consequences.
Through our long experience of administering complex estates we have developed trusted working relationships with advisers in many different countries and we often take on the co-ordinating role that is needed to bring estates of this kind to a conclusion.
Examples of the type of estates we administer are the following:
- Estates of UK domiciliaries owning properties in continental Europe and beyond;
- Estates of foreign domiciliaries owning UK property, with or without an English Will;
- Estates of UK and foreign domiciliaries with assets in multiple jurisdictions, with one or more Wills governed by foreign laws;
- Estates of UK and foreign domiciliaries where there is no Will, creating intestacies in different jurisdictions; and
- Estates of UK and foreign domiciliaries where the English and foreign Wills inadvertently cancel each other out.
