The 10,000 Interns programme: Meet Rianna
1. What about BDB Pitmans appealed to you before you accepted your internship?
The culture and values at BDB Pitmans, along with their strong reputation in planning law, were major draws for me. Being one of the few firms with parliamentary agents, the experience offered here is unparalleled. Additionally, BDB Pitmans offers many intriguing service lines, such as digital infrastructure, social media influencer management, and environmental law, which are not commonly found at other firms. The opportunity to explore these niche areas was particularly appealing.
2. What are you enjoying most about your internship with BDB Pitmans?
I thoroughly enjoy applying the theoretical knowledge from my degree in a practical setting, especially within the Employment Law team. The high level of client exposure and early responsibility are extremely rewarding. Meeting new people and understanding the tangible impact of my work, whether on an organisation or an individual, is incredibly fulfilling. Additionally, the chance to explore different areas of law, some of which I hadn’t studied or considered before, has been exciting and enriching.
3. If you were to describe our company culture in three words, what would they be?
Ethical, collaborative, and diverse. I admire BDB Pitmans’ stance on carbon emissions and sustainability. I was delighted to learn that they were recently shortlisted for the National Sustainability Award 2024. This recognition underscores their commitment to going above and beyond in sustainability. The collaborative and diverse environment is evident throughout the firm, and these values closely align with my own, making it a fantastic place to start my legal career.
4. Of the projects you have been working on here, which has been of particular interest to you, and why?
One standout experience was attending an employment tribunal case nearly from start to finish. Being involved in the entire process, which included several hearings over multiple days, and understanding how the final judgment was formed, was incredibly exciting and educational. This experience provided me with invaluable insight into the practical application of employment law and the intricacies of the judicial process.
