The Independent Schools’ Bursars Association (ISBA) is the only national association to represent school bursars and business managers of independent schools. The ISBA annual conference brings together over 500 bursars from independent schools every year, offering topical updates for schools and networking opportunities and an exhibition of more than 150 professional advisors and companies.
We are proud to have supported the ISBA Conference for a number of years and we take this opportunity to help stakeholders stay updated with the latest legal and regulatory news. Our ISBA 2024 team

Nick helps professional services firms, companies and charities with a wide range of employment and HR issues.
He deals with day to day advisory work for organisations in relation to disciplinary and grievance matters and also drafts tailored employment contracts, policies and procedures and employee handbooks. Nick has considerable experience of acting for organisations with high levels of trade union membership and helping them manage all aspects of employee and industrial relations issues. He has particular expertise in advising on internal restructures and reorganisations as well as transfer of undertakings (Protection of Employment) transfers, and has also recently advised on the employment aspects of large scale corporate transactions and floats.

Preena advises on a variety of charity matters including the establishment and structure of new charities including CIOs and CICs, charity incorporations and conversions, charity transfers and mergers, governance issues, regulatory compliance and fundraising aspects.
She has previously assisted on a number of interim manager appointments and has had regular contact with the Charity Commission on behalf of charity clients.
Our education team and experience
Our team of leading education lawyers include members from our award-winning charities team, corporate, commercial, employment, pensions and specialist public affairs teams. We have specialist expertise in complex or unusual matters which affect the education sector. On a day-to-day basis, we advise the governing bodies and leadership teams of independent schools, as well as trustees of educational foundations, on all matters ranging from operational issues to governance and risk management.
Many in the team are school governors and trustees of education charities and therefore have first-hand experience of seeing issues from both sides. We also have a strong and effective relationship with the Charity Commission. Our involvement in the practicalities of the sector provides in-depth knowledge.
Offering a collaborative approach, we draw on expertise across the firm, sharing knowledge and experience to offer an integrated service ranging from debt collection and staff issues to mergers and collaborations and exploring opportunities overseas.
