Home / News and Insights / News / BDB Pitmans advise Frenkel Topping Group Plc on two acquisitions

Top UK law firm BDB Pitmans has advised leading professional and financial services firm, Frenkel Topping Group Plc (FTG), on two acquisitions of Somek and Associates Ltd (Somek) and the entire issued share capital of N-Able Services Ltd (N-Able). It is expected that the acquisitions will bolster FTG’s existing business and enhance its Case and Care Management offering in regional areas.

Founded in 1979, independent financial advisory firm, FTG, specialises in providing services to those seeking damages for personal injury and medical negligence. The organisation provides solutions for solicitors, barristers and professional deputies involved in personal injury litigation, including everything from expert witness reports to advice on welfare benefits and setting up trusts.

Established in 2002, professional service firm N-Able provides Case Management and Care expert reports focussing on specialist, bespoke rehabilitation and lifestyle programmes. As one of the largest independent Case Management providers in the country, N-Able works directly with many of the UK’s leading law and insurance firms to support claimants through the litigation process and beyond, guiding clients through rehabilitation, while allowing them to maintain their independence.

Operating since 1997, Somek is a corporate partner of the Expert Witness Institute and one of the largest providers of Expert Witnesses in the UK, managing instructions from claimants and defendants alike. Delivering highly trained experts across a range of health professions throughout the UK, the acquisition of Somek transforms FTG into a market leader in the care reports, personal injury and clinical negligence space.

The acquisitions called for expertise drawn from across the firm and on the corporate side FTG were advised by Nick McCarthy, Andrew McGlashan  and Mireille Turner.

Corporate partner Nick McCarthy commented:

‘It was a pleasure to work with FTG and we have no doubt that the acquisitions will boost the organisation’s offering by allowing them to reach a new market in a field where geographical location is highly relevant. We wish them every success.’

Richard Fraser, Chief Executive Officer of Frenkel Topping Group PLC, commented:

‘These acquisitions mark the next phase of FTG’s growth strategy, helping to strengthen our position in the Care and Case Management space while boosting our offering for claimants by allowing us to support them at additional steps of the journey. Our thanks to BDB Pitmans who supported us at every step.’
