Home / News and Insights / News / Law firm BDB Pitmans strengthens its public law team with senior partner appointment

The below press release was shared in Solicitors Journal, Commercial Dispute Resolution and  Local Government Lawyer.

Law firm BDB Pitmans has strengthened its market-leading public law team following the appointment of partner Oliver Wright.

Wright joined the firm on 8 April from Manchester lawyers JMW Solicitors, where he was a partner in its public law and commercial litigation practice.

He brings to the firm considerable experience and expertise in contentious public law matters, acting for public sector and trade bodies, UHNW business leaders, politicians, medical and law enforcement professionals alongside large businesses in the real estate, construction, transport and infrastructure and technology sectors.

Alongside his growing public law practice, Wright is an experienced commercial litigator with an enviable track record in contentious media disputes, reputation management and data privacy work.

Commenting on his appointment, Wright said:

‘BDB Pitmans has a first-class reputation for public law, both as parliamentary agents and acting for statutory and regulatory bodies. I am thrilled to be joining the firm and look forward to developing the practice further.’

BDB Pitmans is widely recognised for its market-leading public law practice advising on a wide range of administrative and public law matters including judicial reviews, statutory appeals, public inquiries and inquests. A dedicated team of parliamentary agents drafts, promotes and opposes legislation in parliament.

Phil Smith, head of litigation at BDB Pitmans adds:

‘We are delighted with Oliver’s decision to join the firm. We know him well and he has a terrific track record. We look forward to working with him and to the contributions he will make to this key growth area for the firm.’

His appointment follows the promotion of Ian Wasserman to partner, on 2 April 2024.
