Tesco faces largest ever equal pay claim
Tesco is facing a £4bn equal pay claim, the largest in British history ever.
An estimated 200,000 supermarket workers could be affected by the claim being brought against Tesco, who have declined to comment so far. The case is being brought on the basis that female warehouse workers are being paid less than their male counterparts for work of equal value.
The case has reached ACAS, the conciliation service, before heading to the employment tribunal.
Both Asda and Sainsbury have had similar claims brought against them (with Asda currently appealing the decision that cashier/checkout jobs were of equal value to warehouse jobs).
With greater awareness of equal pay claims there is an even greater need to get your gender pay gap report accurate and published on time. It is also important to use the narrative option to clarify any anomalies. Check out our short videos for information on what you need to publish and when.
