Services

An experienced, senior lawyer with over 17 years’ experience in corporate and financial restructuring working with lenders, investors, boards and insolvency practitioners. Often leading multi-disciplinary teams, Alexander advises on complex transactions, including contentious matters within the UK, internationally and cross-border.

Alexander advises on all aspects of distressed situations whether transactional or contentious, cross-border or domestic. This includes restructurings, exit strategies and enforcement options, administrations, receiverships, liquidations, CVAs and all related litigation matters.

His practice involves acting for lenders and borrowers, as well as insolvency practitioners and other stakeholders of distressed businesses. Clients benefit from the experience he gained in two banking secondments, which included working in Spain.

Career Highlights

  • Advising a board on the restructuring / MBO of an Anglo-German animal hygiene and pharmaceuticals group, re-centering the business within the UK
  • Advising directors of SPV at the fulcrum of a £750 million restructuring and sale of Enterprise Group plc to Ferrovial S.A. on the trading and disposal of an operating group below it
  • Advising the board of an office-cleaning group on potential trading issues and financial / corporate restructuring (£8 million senior / mezz debt), including active completion accounts litigation against a recent vendor of the group now residing in Nevis.
  • Advising receivers of £150 million debt linked to the Marme Group liquidation in Spain and associated Aabar Block / Glenn Maud proceedings. Successfully issued emergency proceedings for declaratory relief and freezing injunction to protect receivers’ position over assets being used in a bid for the property complex occupied as the headquarters of Santander near Madrid, valued at approximately €1.950 billion
