Annie advises clients on a broad range of family law matters, from divorce and associated financial issues, to children matters, cohabitation disputes between unmarried couples, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. She acts for high net worth individuals and has experience of dealing with cases involving complex business structures, assets located overseas and disputes over pre-marital and post-separation assets.
Annie is committed to conducting matters in a constructive way and, where possible, to assist clients to resolve disputes outside of court. However, where that is not possible, Annie is a strategic and effective litigator. In recent feedback, Annie has been praised as ‘brilliant; excellent with the client, who is very particular, completely on top of the details of the case, and very helpful on proposing compromises during negotiations’.
Annie is passionate about the importance of access to justice for all, and coordinates BDB Pitmans’ pro bono program partnership with Brixton Advice Centre, where she volunteers to provide free legal advice to members of the public.
- Representing a husband in financial proceedings upon divorce and advising him on complicating factors such as family trusts, complex business structures, post-separation inheritances and assets located abroad in South Africa.
- Acting for a father who had a restraining order in place preventing him from contacting the mother, and successfully applying to court for a child arrangements order increasing his time with the children.
- Successfully obtaining an urgent order for a mother which prevented the children’s father from collecting them from school; the father had a history of domestic violence and posed a high risk of child abduction.
- Negotiating a very favourable financial settlement on behalf of a wife who owned a dental practice with her ex-husband, structured as a general partnership. The settlement enabled the wife to remain in the family home with the children, and to take over the dental practice and continue working there.
