Liz is an experienced senior lawyer with expertise in property, development and compulsory purchase law, spanning over 14 years.

She acts for public and private sector clients on a wide range of projects and also on general real estate, including acquisitions, disposals, development agreements and landlord and tenant matters. Through her work in local government, Liz has extensive knowledge of and advises on statutory powers, constitutional and governance procedures.

Liz provides real estate advice in connection with major infrastructure schemes, in particular those authorised by development consent order and transport and works act orders. She supports her clients on complex title investigation work and has successfully led large teams in the negotiation of rights and land requirements, by consensual transfer or compulsorily, both for survey access and temporary and permanent possession.

Her practice encompasses all aspects of compulsory purchase orders, from site assembly through to confirmation and vesting, negotiating agreements and settlements in parallel. She provides multi-disciplinary advice and guidance, working closely with clients on stakeholder engagement, programme and implementation of compulsory purchase powers and related consents.

  • Acting on several Development Consent Order projects for a range of land issues, including for National Grid and Highways England
  • Advising on over 40 Compulsory Purchase Order schemes involving regeneration, housing, energy and highways powers, for acquiring authorities and objectors
  • Providing strategic and governance support on regeneration and development projects, including for the London Boroughs of Enfield and Lambeth, Thrive Homes and Swan Housing Association
  • Advising Transport for London on major infrastructure projects, including the implementation of powers pursuant to Transport and Works Act Order for its Northern Line Tube Extension
