Home / News and Insights / Press / BNG delay another ‘blow to sustainable development’

Following yesterday’s announcement that the government has decided to delay the introduction of mandatory biodiversity net gain rules, partner Sarah Clark reflects on the impact on developers in Property Week, asking where this leaves developers.

The decision has been universally criticised by senior industry figures as ‘another blow to sustainable development’ and has caused ‘doubt and confusion’ among developers and planners. However, the delay might not be entirely bad news, as it extends the deadline to submit planning applications before the new requirements come in to force. Sarah’s comments have also been shared in Local Authority Building & Maintenance and Showhouse.
