A reader of the Financial Times has recently moved house and has lost their share certificate in the process.
Oliver Pilkington, partner in BDB Pitmans’ corporate team, explains that a certificate is not the only way of proving ownership of shares, as each company is required to keep an up-to-date record of its shareholders by law.
