An entire economic ecosystem relies on the British workforce doing something that only six months ago was second nature: jumping on a train, Tube, or bus and commuting to the office. However, the pandemic has reportedly paralysed the UK workforce far more than its European counterparts, and ministers are assessing how they can prevent the country’s city centres from becoming ghost towns.
