The Children Act has always been in place to put childrens’ welfare at the forefront of any court decisions regarding future arrangements when couples separate. Over the years this welfare checklist has been amended and the organisation Families Need Fathers (FNF) is supporting a further change which stipulates that children are to spend roughly the same amount of time with each parent following their separation. This reflects the results of a YouGov survey where 8 in 10 people agreed with this proposal.
