Shooting for the stars: Pitmans Law acts on sale of Royal Berkshire Shooting Group
Pitmans Law announced today that it acted for Pangbourne-based Royal Berkshire Shooting Group (RBSG) on its sale to the world renowned British gunmaker James Purdey and Sons Ltd.
The Royal Berkshire Shooting School has one of the most expansive shooting grounds in the country and the acquisition includes the full 65 acres of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as the Gun Shop, a retail outlet; the Royal Berkshire Sporting Agency; and The Really Wild Clay Company which arranges simulated game shoots across the UK.
Stephanie Perry, Pitmans Law Corporate Partner, led the deal and said: “I’m delighted to see the RBSG team join forces with acclaimed James Purdey and Sons, having seen RBSG grow and expand significantly over the last five years that we have worked with them.”
Dylan Williams, Managing Director and founder of the Shooting School in 1991, said: “To have created a business from scratch that a globally recognized brand in our industry wishes to acquire is really quite humbling. It is a testament to the incredible efforts of the Royal Berkshire staff, both those currently with us, and those that have helped us along the way.
“Stephanie Perry, Jasmine Murphy and the whole Pitmans team excelled themselves in the lengthy due diligence process and the RBSG thank them for their forbearance and commitment that went way beyond the call of duty!”
James Horne, Chairman of James Purdey, added: “We are delighted to welcome the RBSG team and combine these two outstanding brands, offering our shooting customers an expanded range of first-class products and services.”
The partnership will add to the existing range of products and services provided by RBSG with new additions from the Purdey portfolio.
