Sweden drops investigation into WikiLeaks founder
BDB Pitmans
The investigation into the alleged rape by Julian Assange has now been dropped by Swedish prosecutors, despite them finding the claim credible. This new development means that only the US is seeking Assange’s extradition.
Anthony Hanratty, a senior associate in BDB Pitmans’ white collar crime and investigations team, comments on this development for the Mail Online:
‘The decision of the Swedish prosecutor to drop its investigation won’t have any effect on the US extradition request. It simply means that matters won’t be complicated by a competing extradition request from Sweden’.
