The Boundaries of my property don’t match my Land Registry title plan – what do I do?

Partner in our Residential Property team, John Stephenson answers a reader’s question regarding a discrepancy between property boundaries on the Land Registry and her the situation of neighbours’ fences, in an article for The Sunday Times.

John Stephenson comments:

‘Boundary issues between neighbours regularly get into the press, and usually highlight three points: first, the often tiny area of land involved, second the bitterness engendered by the dispute and third the extraordinary level of money often spent to try to resolve the issue. While I am sure you feel greatly annoyed by this apparent encroachment, it is always best to check as thoroughly as possible before you accuse your neighbours of nibbling away at your garden.’
