Use of business intelligence and surveillance services in the corporate world

A number of cases regarding private detectives have been in the spotlight recently, from Credit Suisse hiring private investigators to shadow a former executive, to Diligence International being sued for allegedly spying on Dechert partner Neil Gerrard and his family whilst on holiday. With the private investigation business booming, law firms are often approached by these agencies. However, these high profile cases hardly reflect a true representation of what private detectives do for law firms.

Anthony Hanratty, senior associate in BDB Pitmans’ white collar crime and investigations team, questions whether they are trustworthy.
