Introduction

BDB Pitmans LLP is a multi-disciplinary UK law firm advising private companies, public sector bodies, not-for-profit organisations and individuals since 1834. Our success has been built through developing long-standing relationships with our clients. We listen to our clients so that we can understand their business objectives or life goals in order that we provide not only excellent technical advice, but a complete solution.

Operating from our London, Reading, Cambridge and Southampton offices, we work with clients across the UK and internationally. Through our membership of Lexwork International we can provide legal solutions throughout Europe, the Americas and Asia.

We have built a culture that is supportive and proactive. These qualities permeate through our internal relations as well as our client service. We encourage discussion, questioning and collaboration across all departments.

Our commitment to a diverse and positive business environment is reflected in the quality of service we provide, with both lawyers and all other staff committed to success.

Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

BDB Pitmans is committed to acting responsibly in all our activities and to upholding the high standards expected of the profession. We will not act for clients where it is illegal or inappropriate for us to do so. We have systems in place to enable us to monitor any clients or instructions from clients, which we have identified as ‘high risk’. Partners and employees are required to report any known or suspected breaches of laws or ethical standards. We provide training to all partners and employees in relation to professional standards for example risk management, money laundering, bribery and corruption.

We have built a culture that is supportive, proactive and driven. Slavery and human trafficking do not fit in with this ethos. We will only work with highly reputable, like-minded organisations, who are equally committed to these goals, and in many instances we have long established relationships with our suppliers.

As part of our Procurement Process, we take steps to ensure that any potential suppler is not involved in modern slavery and human trafficking. We expect our suppliers to embody these principles in their activities and will work with them to ensure that our approach to slavery and human trafficking is reflected in all our purchases of goods and services so that neither we nor they are involved in any way, either directly or indirectly, in slavery and human trafficking.

Our Commitment

We are committed to ensuring that slavery and human trafficking have no place in our business or in our supply chain. This statement has been approved by the Board of BDB Pitmans LLP and will be reviewed annually.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our firm’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 May 2024.
