Can your employer force you to go back to the office?

Since the pandemic, working from home has become the norm; however, employers are increasingly requesting that employees come into the physical office. Commenting in an article for Yahoo Finance, partner Nicholas le Riche explains the legalities behind refusing to work five days in the office and remaining remote.

Highlighting the importance of checking your contract, Nicholas le Riche states:

‘This raises questions about whether there has been a change of workplace through custom and practice,’ he says. ‘It may depend on whether the hybrid or remote working arrangements have been described as ‘temporary’ and whether the employer has confirmed that they have the ability to change or end the arrangements at any time.’
