Last month saw the much-anticipated ruling by the Supreme Court on whether artificial intelligence could be considered the ‘inventor’ under British law. Partner Dennis Lee discusses the ruling that an inventor of a patent must be a ‘natural person’, in an article for Law360.

‘The judiciary sees the question of whether generative AI tools can be the inventors and creators of projectable work as too big to be decided by the courts alone. Hopefully, this decision is a catalyst for Parliament to act, but trying to define technology and situations that are yet to exist is easier said than done.’
