Guideline hourly rates in a post COVID-19 world

Following the decision in Ohpen Operations UK Ltd v Invesco Fund Managers Ltd where guideline hourly rates (GHRs) were criticised as ‘not helpful’, the Civil Justice Council has been tasked with forming a committee to report on GHRs.
Richard Langley, Partner in BDB Pitmans’ litigation team, discusses this and highlights changes to litigation practice, particularly in current circumstances where much of the legal profession is working from home, and the cost of office space appears less relevant in assessing the actual costs of running a litigation practice in different parts of the country.
