How is whistleblowing linked to unfair dismissal?
Since the introduction of the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 (PIDA), employees at certain levels have a greater ability to formulate detriment claims after raising issues about the business. This is particularly the case for employees responsible for, or operating in; finance, regulation, health and safety and compliance. For example, employees who seek to claim unfair dismissal, especially those with less than two years’ service, often seek to rely on whistleblowing detriment.
