The status of opt-in and opt-out group claims in the UK

The attraction of group claims, or class actions as they are more commonly known outside the UK, is that multiple claimants who have suffered the same legal wrong by a large organization can collectively bring a claim for a small amount of compensation against that organization in a way that is more efficient than if they pursued individual claims.
