Home / News and Insights / Press / What lies ahead? 2024 predictions from UK private wealth specialists

It looks as if 2024 is going to be a busy year for the country’s private wealth sector as the Conservative and Labour parties try to win over hesitant voters.

Commenting in an article for eprivateclient, partner Judith Millar discusses the implications this may have on the proposed changes to inheritance tax (IHT).

[while the] ‘press was full of attention grabbing headlines over the summer about the Conservatives abolishing IHT and rumours about Labour curtailing IHT reliefs, But are there likely to be immediate changes?’

Building on Judith’s insight, partner Sophie St John comments on the perceived inevitability of Labour abolishing the current non-dom regime.

‘I predict that having abolished the regime the new Government will replace it with something else; hopefully a regime which is straightforward, transparent and attractive to internationally mobile HNWIs and UHNWIs looking to establish themselves in a new country.’
