Home / News and Insights / Press / BDB Pitmans boosts private wealth capability through merger with Portrait Solicitors

BDB Pitmans announces today that it has agreed a merger with Portrait Solicitors. The transaction is due to complete in April 2022.

Portrait Solicitors was founded in 1995 as a City law firm focused on servicing the needs of private clients and quickly established a reputation as a discrete, niche private client practice, a reputation which it continues to hold.

The firm has three partners – Judith Portrait, Dominic Flynn and Helen Johnston and they and their team of associates will join BDB Pitmans and be based at BDB Pitmans’ City office.

The firm’s key practice areas are estate planning and wills, trusts, the administration of estates , charity law (with a strong emphasis on philanthropy) and agriculture and landed estates. The merger will build on and complement BDB Pitmans’ established strength in these areas.

Andrew Smith, Managing Partner at BDB Pitmans, said:

‘We are delighted to have agreed this merger with Portrait Solicitors. Their expertise will further strengthen our existing highly regarded private wealth and charities teams and our ability to provide the first class advice to our clients for which we are known.’

Dominic Flynn, partner at Portrait Solicitors, said:

‘This is a wonderful merger for us and it will be very exciting to be part of a greatly strengthened team with our new colleagues at BDB Pitmans to provide the quality and excellence of service for all our clients.’

Alastair Collett, Head of private wealth at BDB Pitmans, said:

‘Having enjoyed working with Judith, Dominic and Helen on a variety of charity and private client matters over many years and seen their formidable talents in action, I am delighted that we have the opportunity to combine teams and serve our clients – old and new – with enhanced strength and depth.’
