BDB Pitmans have successfully assisted UK-based investment firm, Inspirit Capital, with their latest acquisition of the Spaldings group, UK and Ireland’s largest distributor of tillage aftermarket equipment, from Marubeni Corporation, the listed Japanese conglomerate. The acquisition was funded by monies from Inspirit Capital’s Fund I, as well as a £10 million funding line from Leumi ABL.

The BDB Pitmans team was led by corporate partner, Robert Chidley, who was assisted by Dan King, Mireille Turner, Thomas Lane and Gabriella Jack on both the M&A and financing elements, Alex Barnes on tax, Nick Le Riche and Laura Binnie on employment and Bhaminee Sharma and Jinita Pandhak on real estate.

Robert Chidley said:

‘We are pleased to have successfully worked alongside Inspirit on all aspects of this transaction. We are confident that the experience of, and support from, the team at Inspirit will ensure a prosperous future for the Spaldings group.’

Will Stamp, Co-Founder of Inspirit Capital, said:

‘We really enjoyed working with Rob and wider BDB Pitmans team. We were impressed with the commercial approach they adopted in resolving a number of complex matters on the transaction, as well as their dedication in getting the deal closed in a tight timeframe. We look forward to working with them again in the future.’
